A laborer completed the 8-hour hands-on Class II course. It covered only the work practices for removing asbestos ceiling tiles. The crew's work does not require critical barriers or negative pressure enclosures. The supervisor now wants him to also remove asbestos-containing transite panels on the same project. What does the standard require before he takes on the transite work?

Answer: D. Training in the work practices applicable to transite panels and the removal methods he will use, in addition to his ceiling tile training
An employee who works with more than one listed material category must be trained in the work practices for each category he removes and each removal method he uses. His ceiling tile course does not cover transite panels. The MAP-equivalent course applies to Class I work and to Class II work needing critical barriers or negative pressure enclosures, which is not the case here.
“An employee who works with more than one of the categories of material specified in paragraph (k)(9)(iv)(A) of this section shall receive training in the work practices applicable to each category of material that the employee removes and each removal method that the employee uses.”
