Statistics and probability
ASP video lesson, 5:56. ASP Domain 1: Mathematical Calculations
Compute a mean, median and sample standard deviation, see why outliers distort the mean, and find AND/OR gate probabilities for independent events, the ASP exam math.
Included with every ASP pass, with captions, chapters and the full transcript. Every rule and number is cited on screen to its primary source.
What this lesson covers
In this lesson, you'll learn to: compute a mean and a median, calculate a sample standard deviation, explain why outliers distort the mean, and find AND and OR gate probabilities for independent events. Location asks for a typical value. Two common answers are the mean and the median. The mean is the sum of the data points divided by the number of data points. It is what most people call the average.
