Ventilation calculations
ASP video lesson, 6:14. ASP Domain 1: Mathematical Calculations
Smoke-tube velocity, duct diameter from circumference, dilution ventilation with the mixing factor, hood distance and stack height: the ventilation math tested on the ASP exam.
Included with every ASP pass, with captions, chapters and the full transcript. Every rule and number is cited on screen to its primary source.
What this lesson covers
In this lesson, you'll learn to: calculate velocity from a smoke-tube test, find a duct diameter from its circumference, size dilution ventilation using the mixing factor, and apply the hood distance and stack height rules. A smoke tube lets you measure air velocity with a stopwatch. Velocity equals distance divided by time.
