0:09 Learning objectives
In this lesson, you'll learn to: evaluate and select a permit space rescue service, apply the retrieval system requirements, state the over-water equipment and fall rescue rules, and size underground rescue teams.
0:25 Selecting a rescue service
Designating rescue brings five duties. Evaluate whether a rescuer can respond in a timely manner, given the hazards. Evaluate proficiency with tasks and equipment for your particular permit spaces. Select a team that reaches victims in time, is equipped and proficient, and notifies you immediately if unavailable.
0:50 Employees as rescuers
Inform the team of the hazards, and give it access to plan and practice. For employee rescuers, equipment and training are free to them. They need basic first aid and CPR training, with at least one certified member available. Practice simulated rescues before a real one and every 12 months, unless properly performed in the same or a similar space within 12 months.
1:10 Non-entry rescue
Non-entry rescue is required unless retrieval equipment adds risk or does not contribute to rescue. If non-entry is not selected, you must designate an entry rescue service.
